Wunderkammer

Over the last term BA (Hons) Fine Art level 4 students were given the opportunity to make work in response to MoDiP and wider notions of the Museum. They were encouraged to treat MoDiP as a Wunderkammer, a source of inspiration.

This is the third year that students have undertaken this project and the responses have produced the usual diversity of approach, but all can be seen as having been influenced by museology.

Issues of hierarchy of display, authenticity, methods of recording, classification have all had an influence on current art practice and can be seen as having influenced each of the works in this exhibition.

These pieces are currently on display in the cases on the ground floor of the library and over the next few days we will be featuring the individual artworks on this blog.  In the meantime the whole exhibition can be viewed on our website:
